Any given day, I could randomly talk about myself, even with no intention of being the center of attention. Not that I don't like the attention, I do, but not to the extent of creeping people out. Or so I would claim. But when there's an agenda, like silly profiles, behind it, talking about myself becomes extremely difficult. You couldn't imagine. Or maybe you could, I assume you've written that profile yourself. The agony of choosing what to say, or how to say it; which words to use, in what order; what things to leave out, which ones to emphasize? Crap.
Allow me to elucidate on this matter by giving a few examples:
I could say "I'm extremely smart and my mother tells me I'm extremely handsome. -Nahhh, too juvenile.
Or "I am a very friendly person, and I want to find new friends. -Urgh, too cheesy.
Maybe, "everyone thinks I'm a snob, but I'm really nice once you get to know me. -wuh, that's pretentious.
Then there's the: "I am alone in this world, and I need company. -Ahehe, that's way too desperate. The complaints would go on, and still, nothing could be written.
I believe that's the true difficulty of on-line existence. There is too much freedom here, and the liberty associated with it is not always a good thing. There's too much room for lies, too much opportunity for affectation. At the end of the day, some people look at their own profile and don't recognize it as theirs. That's really hilarious. I just don't want to end up like that.
